Ayer Police to Share Flock Safety Camera Portal

June 2, 2026

(June 2, 2026) – The Ayer Police Department plans to share information about its Flock Surveillance cameras online, such as how the surveillance will be used and for what purpose. The Town Manager advised the Select Board at Tuesday’s meeting that the target date for posting this information online is June 8th, next Monday. He said the Police Chief can attend the board’s next meeting on June 16th.

A resident asked several questions during the public comment period at the Select Board meeting. The Police Chief was present and answered. He acknowledged reading comments on social media and wanted to put all the questions and answers online.

“I want to be as transparent as possible because when there is transparency, there’s trust,” he said. “I want to make sure we have the trust with our community.”

He called the Flock Surveillance an important tool and said he has worked with the Town Manager’s office since the inception of this process, which involved applying for a grant.

This discussion began when another resident asked questions at the April 21st Select Board meeting during the public comment period. He noted he had submitted a public records request to the town. According to the meeting minutes, the resident requested the town’s policy related to license plate surveillance be posted online.

We are going to end our coverage here and follow up in future articles.
