Here are a few notes from the July 22, 2026 Ayer Select Board meeting.
Special Town Meeting Warrant Will Open. The Select Board will open the warrant for the October Special Town Meeting at its next meeting on Aug. 18, 2026.
Shade Structure for Dog Park. The DPW Director recommended the town use Community Preservation Funds to build a shade structure for the Ayer Dog Park on Snake Hill Road.
In May 2017, Town Meeting voted to authorize the use of $20,000 from Community Preservation Funds to build the Ayer Dog Park, according to the Community Preservation Coalition’s website. The original project design included a shade structure, but this was never built due to insufficient funds, according to the DPW’s written report.
This came up briefly and the Select Board didn’t vote. The Community Preservation Committee (CPC) chair joined the brief discussion on how to get the application into meet the CPC meeting and public hearing deadlines ahead of the Special Town Meeting.
Municipal Aggregation. There will be two energy-related updates at the next Select Board meeting, the Town Manager said. First, there will be an update related to town budget impacts and then, an update related to changes to the town’s municipal aggregation program. This is the Ayer Community Choice Power Supply program. Here is the town’s Municipal Aggregation web page.
